Sonic Adventure 2 Video Game Review

Sonic Adventure 2 was arguably the greatest 3D Sonic game ever made. It was jam-packed with everything! It had great gameplay, a great story and very memorable characters. All of the playstyles were very fun and it had a little something for everybody. There were fast-paced stages, slower-paced shooting levels, and treasure hunting levels. The story in this game was very enduring: it introduced one of the best characters in the entire franchise - Shadow the Hedgehog. Let me just say this: Shadow the Hedgehog is no recolor. At first many Sonic fans thought that Shadow was going to just be a recolor of Sonic when they first saw the advertisements for the game. This was thankfully not the case. Shadow has an amazing set of abilities unique to him, which greatly separates him from Sonic. Shadow also has an incredible backstory which will leave players in tears when they fully realize his past. Shadow was such a popular character that he has made many appearances in other Sonic games. He has truly become a staple of the Sonic franchise. What other 3D Sonic game had a character that has lasted in the hearts of fans for so long? In my mind it is Sonic Adventure 2 that had the best cast of characters for any 3D Sonic game in history. But before I get more into the characters and the story I first want to talk about the gameplay.

There are three different gameplay modes. Firstly, there's the Sonic and Shadow levels which revolve around speed. They're basically your typical Sonic levels: get to the end as fast as you can while dodging enemies and going over various platforming dangers. The second set of levels are shooting stages. As Tails and Eggman you'll be in a big bulky machine and you have to blast through enemies to get to the end. The third set of levels are the treasure hunting stages. As Knuckles and Rouge you have to find the pieces of the Master Emerald which was destroyed by Eggman early on in the game. In my opinion these are the weakest levels of the game. But these stages do add a bit of variety to the game, and I'm sure that there are many people who enjoy these levels. I must actually say that it's the treasure hunting which includes one of the best stages in the entire game - Pumpkin Hill! As I said before, this game has a little something for everybody. Even if you don't like the speed levels, there's the shooting and treasure hunting stages. If you don't like the shooting stages, there's the speed and treasure hunting stages to keep you satisfied. If you don't like the treasure hunting stages, there's the speed and shooting levels to keep you happy.

The story in this game is incredible! Eggman wants to take over the world and he finally decides to take advice written on a note by his Grandfather Gerold Robotnik, which said something along the lines of: "If you want to fill the world with destruction, then you'll unleash the ultimate lifeform." The ultimate lifeform happens to be Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow tells Eggman about the Space Colony Ark, a space station with the ability to destroy an entire planet. It needs chaos emeralds to give it enough energy to function, so Shadow and Eggman agree to look for all 7 chaos emeralds. Rouge the Bat even shows up and offers to help them look for more emeralds. At first Eggman and Shadow aren't sure if they can trust Rogue, but they agree to let her help. The adventure takes them all over the place: from a military island, to Egypt, and even to outer space. On the hero side of the adventure, Sonic and his friends are trying to stop Eggman. They also go to a military island, to Egypt, and outer space. The game is one big thrill ride.

Overall, Sonic Adventure 2 is the greatest 3D Sonic game ever made. It has the best gameplay, the best story, and the best characters out of all the 3D Sonic games in the franchise. This game is a classic!
